USALSA stands for United States Army Legal Services Agency. They are part of the appellate system for trials by courts martial. The Article 15 (non judicial punishment) that Del gave is probably a pretty good story and if I knew it, of course I would share it. Del was also the Commandant of the School, but at his senior age and with the burden of so much command, he may have forgotten.

Jack: I was the Commander of USALSA (not on your list) and actually gave one Article 15. My recollection is that TJAG is not a commander. He is a General Staff Officer. How soon we forget

As an up-to-date geezer, I no longer call them senior moments. They are now Google Moments -- because as you know you can get answers to all your questions on Google including "Where are my car keys?"

Great article on the Cardinals. I too was at the game that Musial hit the five home runs. He made it look easy, and only years later did I realize what an accomplishment that was. When Pujols hit the three homers in the last series, I thought about that day almost sixty years ago.

I've been in Houston for years, and I am an Astro fan, but I'll never lose my interest in the Cardinals. When I saw ex-Astro Berkman's single with Pujols on base in game six it seemed like a perfect way to lead the good guys to the final game. I'll never understand how people can say that baseball is too slow to remain America's pastime. Other sports may be exciting, but it would be hard to beat the drama and the athletic skill that we saw last week.

I lived there twice (on Austin and on Colorado) beginning in 1967...living in one of the old Air Force Barracks now... "Airport Apartments". I bought and read Donna's book(I highly recommend it!) which brought back a lot of memories even though I was only 7...I remember the Theater (which burned down years ago) the pool, commissary, and going to the dispensary (now used by the Vo-tech for health trades)....
Of course, I was a "army brat" for most of my life, but I spent my military daze at OSUT in Ft.Knox, KY and then my tour in Bindlach, FRG (Germany) 1st Squadron/2d ACR...Hup, Hup Cavalry Ho! If you ain't Cav...you ain't Shi-hit...

People who know me well would be surprised that I would ever admit to agreeing with anybody about anything, but after twice reading you rant, I can't find anything I disagree with. My view of Obama is probably somewhat darker than yours. I do have to take issue with your claim that Afghanistan is America's longest war. In June 1960, I talked to an Air Force Junior Officer (Air Force Special Ops) who regaled me with his description of the tour he had just returned from in which he spent his days sitting in the open door of a helicopter shooting at North Vietnamese troops (ARVN?) and spent his evenings drinking beer in the bars of Saigon. That's right, active war during the Eisenhower administration. I also remember the image on TV of the last helicopter taking off from the CIA building in Saigon in 1975. So, if you're counting the CIA vs. Russkis in Afghanistan, then you're right, but to me, Viet Nam lasted longer. I also clearly remember another of my least-favorite presidents running for office promising to stop the war in Viet Nam. As it turned out, more than half of Viet Nam casualties occurred after his 1968 election and he was no longer in office when that helicopter took off.
